Designed to produce dazzling iridescent effects and crackle patterns on non-functional pottery and sculpture, Mayco Raku Glazes are formulated for raku firing. With origins dating to 16th century Japan, raku firing is the process of firing an earthenware body and glaze in a kiln, removing it from the kiln after it has reached the proper temperature, and placing it in a container of combustible materials and enclosing to reduce oxygen. No two finished pieces will ever be alike due to the nature of the firing process. 

Recommended for use with raku clays. Fire to Cone 06 (1850°F, 1010°C). For dramatic effects, raku glazes must be reduced in a raku firing. All are CL with the exception of RK103P White Crackle. Not dinnerware safe.
