The world’s finest pigments are combined with high-grade, alkali-refined linseed oil chosen for its light color, low acid value, good adhesion, and resistance to yellowing. The perfect grind is chosen to maximize the inherent qualities of each individual pigment. A small proportion of additive (less than 1% by weight) is included to improve brushability, ensure consistency, modify drying time, and improve the grind.

Daniel Smith Painting Medium - Two sizes of Painting Medium tubes upright


This low-odor, non-yellowing, alkyd-based medium speeds drying time of oil colors considerably. Thin layers will dry overnight. The consistency is thinner than oil paint, so this medium is ideal for blending, glazing, and leveling brushstrokes. It increases the flexibility and transparency of oils, and can be thinned with odorless mineral spirits

Packed with the same premium pigments as Daniel Smith Original Oils. Modified linseed oil binder cleans up with ordinary water. Most finely ground pigments of any water-soluble color line. Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oil Colors offer Outstanding color strength, even when mixed with Titanium White, as well as excellent brushability, a beautiful surface sheen, and uniform drying times. They may be thinned with Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Linseed Oil, another brand of modified linseed oil, or water (note: the resulting surface sheen when thinned with water will be slightly more matte). Great for former oil painters who have had to quit for health reasons; painters who share a studio or work in a poorly ventilated space; those with small children or pets; field painters or artists who are traveling and would rather not transport combustible solvents.
