These are premium panels with a revolutionary paper surface specially formulated for oil paints and pastels, ready to use - no preparation necessary.  They have a strong, toothy surface that withstands rubbing and scraping and supports heavy impasto layers.  Arches Oil Paper features a powerful, efficient oil barrier that absorbs water, solvents, and binders evenly while allowing the paint and pigment to remain on the surface for excellent color rendering and faster drying times. The acid-free paper has no optical brightening agents, which improves its archival integrity.  The oil paper is mounted to Raymar’s MDF panels using a pH-neutral adhesive. A gray melamine backing creates a moisture barrier that resists warping and deterioration over time. Because the paper is pre-mounted on board, it's easy to frame (without glass) when varnished.

A favorite among top artists, premium Artfix Belgian linen is hand-primed in a small village in Provence, France, using time-honored European methods.  L84C is Artfix's finest portrait canvas, with an exceptionally smooth and uniform surface that's ideal for portrait and fine detail work. The canvas has a unique absorbency that allows paint to "bite" into the surface for permanent adhesion. It's quadruple-primed with oil primer for a surface that exhibits all the qualities of canvas prepared with a lead-based ground, but without the toxicity. The canvas is also sized twice with a specially formulated acrylic sizing to completely seal the fabric, isolating it from the acids contained in primers and paints.  The primed canvas is bound to RayMar's museum-quality MDF panels using a pH-neutral adhesive. Made in house with careful attention to detail, the acid-free archival art boards feature RayMar's signature gray melamine backing. The backing resists warping and provides a permanent barrier against deterioration from moisture and mold.  Lightweight RayMar Artfix L84C Belgian Linen Panels are an excellent choice for professionals and students working en plein air or in the studio.

Artfix oil primed linens are light sensitive. We recommend storing them in the package, linen face down, until you are ready to paint.
