These boards are specifically engineered for use with encaustics.  The smooth, velvety surface is highly absorbent and heat-safe.  Use them with encaustic alone or in combination with collage, oil paints, image transfer, mixed media, water-based paints, inks, graphite, or colored pencil. The treated, ready-to-use surface holds tight to layers of wax and collage without cracking. They have an Ampersand Hardbord core with birch plywood cradle.  Made in the USA.

Ampersand Floaterframes - Left Angle of Bold Face Black, White, Maple and Walnut frames

A do-it-yourself frame specifically designed for use with wood panels, Ampersand Floaterframes are great for stretched canvases and flat panels as well! Every detail of the Floaterframe has been designed and engineered to deliver a simple, all-in-one framing solution that protects your artwork while giving it the finished look it deserves. 

Made with premium hardwood, the Ampersand Floaterframe features precisely constructed reinforced corners, a wider drill base, and pre-drilled countersunk mounting holes. All mounting and hanging hardware is provided to quickly and easily attach your artwork to the frame, including mounting screws, screw eyes, a hanger, picture wire, and bumper pads. 

The Ampersand Floaterframe is available in two elegant styles — a thin 1/4" face and a bold 3/8" face. Both styles are available in 7/8" and 1-1/2" depths to accommodate 7/8" and 1-1/2" profile artwork. The 7/8" deep frames also fit 3/4" stretched canvas and flat panels with the included riser system.

__Open Back Frames__ - These frames are meant to be hung on the wall and are sold as just the frame face. They are not shipped with backing material, glazing material, or hanging hardware. 


Made from premium hardwood, these professional-quality frames have a wider base that eliminates damage to the panel cradle. A higher profile and deeper rabbet protect panel corners, too. The Ampersand Floaterframe includes hanging hardware.
