Water-Mixable Oil Paints provide the look and feel of traditional oil paints, without the harsh solvents and mediums

Water soluble oils are perfect for Oil painters who are sensitive to, or simply want to avoid exposure to solvents, students and teachers in schools and colleges where the use of oil colour is prohibited because of the solvents. Water based oil paints are also an excellent option for artists working in shared studio space where the buildup of solvent levels could lead to a harmful concentration of vapours and a generally unpleasant odor, as well as for Artists who work within a small home environment and wish to reduce the odor of oil painting.

Choose Holbein DUO, a genuine water-suitable oil paint color for the professional, with the same qualities and characteristics of a traditional artist oil. Uses only the finest highly concentrated pigments intended for traditional oil painting techniques. We also carry Grumbacher Max water-soluble oil paints which offer a professional quality line of 60 colors at an affordable price. These paints appear and behave in the same manner as traditional oil paints except that they thin and clean up with water instead turpentine. This formula is ideal for those sensitive to chemical fumes. Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour is a genuine oil colour made from modified linseed oil and safflower oil. This water mixable paint has been specifically developed to appear and work just like conventional oil colour. The depth of colour, buttery consistency, lightfastness, opacity/transparency, performance and drying times of Artisan allow artists to use this range for all colour techniques.

Great selection of Oil-Based Paint Mediums

Don't forget to stock up on your favorite oil painting mediums as well. Whether you prefer safflower, poppy, stand or linseed oil, you are sure to find the brand and size you need. Get your Gamsol, Turpenoid and other solvents and thinners. Find a variety of glazes and varnishes, both liquid and spray, to finish your works.

New to Oil Painting?

If you are new to oils, taking an oil painting class, a recreational painter or love using oil-based paints but could use a more affordable, aka cheaper alternative to professional artist grade brands, check out our line of Studio Series oil paint colors or Winsor & Newton's Winton line. Both lines are designed to give you the oil painting experience with their smaller yet representative palettes of colors that are less expensive choices for students and other high volume users.
