Excellent 100% Cotton, Mould-made Watercolor Paper from Pioneer in Paper Industry

The Fabriano paper mill in Italy has been making high quality artists' paper since the 13th century and is responsible for many innovations, such as watermarking, that are still used in paper production today. Artistico water color paper continues this tradition as a beautiful paper of absolute professional quality. An excellent 100% cotton, mould made watercolour paper that is both chlorine and acid-free, Artistico satisfies the requirements of professional artists as well as the most demanding amateurs.

Fabriano sizes the watercolor sheets both internally and externally to produce a surface that is ideally absorbent and retains its nature unchanged even when scratched. You can lift or scrape without compromising the surface quality.  These qualities make Artistico watercolor paper an excellent choice for:

  • all water-based media
  • acrylics
  • ink
  • charcoal or graphite drawing
  • also suitable for printmaking and digital prints.

This paper features:

  • Extra White color without optical bleaching
  • Cold Pressed
  • 22 x 30 in
  • 140 lb / 300 gsm
  • 100% Cotton
  • Mould Made
  • Acid-Free
  • Neutral pH
  • Two deckle edges
  • Watermarked “FABRIANO+ARTISTICO” on the short side.

  • Not as tough as Arches!

    Experience: PROFESSIONAL

I have been painting watercolors professionally for decades. My "go-to" brand has been Arches and I know why after trying this paper out. Although painting on this produced excellent results, 2 things really bothered me about this paper. It is thinner than Arches 140# and buckles quite a bit even after it has been stretched working wet on wet. Also scrubbing on this paper is out of the question...so any lifting should be limited if you choose to paint on this paper. The stamped logo on these sheets is backwards...like a mirror image...I don't know if that was a manufacturing mistake or intentional. All in all I give this a 3 star rating mostly because it is advertised as being of professional quality and does not hold up to that title in my honest opinion.I would not purchase this paper again.
