Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, the Cuttlelola Electric Dotspen has an interior mechanism with push-button control for engaging the nib and adjusting the speed. This controls the direction and spacing of dots, and also helps achieve contrast of light and shade (slower speed for light shading, faster for darker shaded areas).

The pen can be plugged into a laptop or PC, or you can work unplugged. The charge lasts approximately one hour.

An amazing tool that relieves wrist strain for professional artists, the Dotspen helps even beginning artists master professional stippling and drawing skills more quickly. Use the Dotspen on a variety of papers for comics, manga, pen-and-ink drawings, pointillism, stippling, zentangle, even doodling.

The set includes the Cuttlelola Electric Dotspen, a USB charging cable, five ink refills, an anti-magnetic box, and operating instructions.

The Dotspen is quite possibly one of the coolest art supply tools to come along since the pencil. It provides consistent, clear stippling--pretty much what you'd get if you were doing your drawing with a crow quill pen--at unimaginable speed. I have arthritis in my thumb and I find this pen easy to hold and control. The ink cartridges have quite a long life as well. One thing to be aware of is that the ink from the Dotspen is more of a Chinese ink black, while Copic and other markers are more of an India ink black. However, this has not proven to be an issue when the finished drawings are scanned.
