  • Sadly of low quality & framing issues

Great price but low quality. Sadly, I ordered a 12 pack of 24x36 and 24x30 w/o seeing the product in-store. 1. Corner "keys" are not given w/ each canvas. These are used to take out the slack in the corners. I have had to re-stretch every corner to get rid of the slack in the canvases. Seems unheard of in my experience not to have corner keys included. I called to ask about this and was told it costs $1.75/pk of 4. Seriously? 2. Instead of a rolled ridge over which the canvas is stretched these have a flat ridge and way too wide. It causes a shadow or line to "telegraph" around the stretcher frame that one has to try to "paint-out". Washes cause the flat ridge to telegraph through, too. 3. Take a completed work to your frame shop and the back reveal of today's framing will not cover the stretcher "telegraph" leaving a line and differences in texture/coverage. Utrecht Traditionals that I have ordered do not have these problems. *****UTRECHT RESPONSE***** Thank you for taking the time to share your candid feedback with us. We offer a variety of options in stretched canvas, and it's true that the Studio canvases are a value-priced line and may not reflect the same kind of quality that might be expected of the higher priced stretched canvases. We're sorry to hear that these were not as you expected, and we've forwarded your comments to our Product Manager for further review. If we can assist you in determining which of our canvases would best meet your needs, please feel welcome to reach out to our Product Information Team. I've had a painting business for over five years now and if you are looking for a good canvas with a good price these are it! The tooth is, I would say medium, great for layering in both acrylic and oil! Ive tried other canvas brands but I always come back to these.
