Canvas preparation was forever changed when Utrecht introduced our Professional Acrylic Gesso to the art world in 1957. Known for its exceptional brightness and outstanding covering power, it is considered by many artists to be the best acrylic ground available today. Our gesso line is suitable for oil, acrylic, alkyd and water soluble oil colors and can be applied to linen, cotton, paper, wood, plaster and stone. Utrecht Gessoes are formulated to be archivally sound and are acid-free. Complete priming instructions are printed on each container.

Utrecht Professional Gesso is a heavy bodied acrylic ground, formulated with a high concentration of exceptional grade Titanium Dioxide resulting in optimal whiteness and covering power. It is combined with an excellent polymer binder to produce a highly stable and flexible surface that ensures no bleed through. Available in pint or gallon sizes.

Utrecht Artists' Gesso is a medium bodied acrylic ground formulated with the same high quality Titanium Dioxide and polymers found in our Professional Grade Gesso. Artists' Gesso has superior brightness and excellent covering properties to ensure no bleed through. Available in pint or gallon sizes.

Utrecht Studio Series Gesso is a light bodied acrylic ground perfect for budget minded educators and students seeking traditional Utrecht quality at an economical price. Studio Series Gesso is formulated with Bright White Titanium Dioxide and quality polymer binders to guarantee excellent coverage. Studio Series Gesso is archival and acid-free. Available in gallon buckets only.

Utrecht Highest Grade Rabbit Skin Glue is used to size linen and cotton canvas and protects against oils. Our Rabbit Skin Glue has the highest adhesive strength and flexibility.

Utrecht Acrylic Canvas Sizing has been developed as an easy and stable alternative to Rabbit Skin Glue. This superior new product for the preparation of linen canvas or panels has been formulated to meet conservator's strict archival requirements.
