Over 40 Single Pigment Oil Paints - Many Pure Pigment Colors

Single pigment colors produce the best oil painting results because they mix truer and more predictably as well as provide the maximum chromatic intensity possible for that pigment.  The Utrecht Artists' line has over 40 of these colors.  Additionally, 12 of those are 'pure' single pigment paints. 'Pure' pigment paints are milled using a premium pigment that is not blended.

Series # Designation Not a Quality Indicator

The Utrecht Artists' line is separated into 5 series, a designation you will see on the product itself and in our descriptions online and in our catalog.  Although the price rises with the series number, that number is not a indication of the quality level of that group of colors.  The less expensive Series 1 is not lower quality than Series 5.  Each series within the Utrecht Artists' line meets the same high quality standards, standards that professional artists expect.

The series designation and subsequent pricing are more a function of production costs, whether that is raw materials or the milling process. A particular pigment might be rarer or harder to produce thereby raising its price relative to more plentiful pigments.
