Derwent Inktense Blocks are chunky, watersoluble ink blocks that can be used dry or wet. Use them dry for pure, vibrant color ? or wet, to create a translucent ink-like paint that can be worked over when dry.

Inktense Blocks are ideal for loose landscapes and still life paintings. They can also be used for rubber stamping, decoupage, or on fabric to create silk paintings and quilts. They also combine beautifully with Derwent Inktense Pencils. Use them dry to apply fine lines or broad strokes directly on paper. Wet, they can be used like pans of paint, dipped in water to apply color directly to the paper, or applied to wet paper for instant, intense color.

  • Inktense watercolor on fabric

    Experience: NOVICE

Both pencils and blocks offer a wide variety of techniques and vivid color. I have used them on cotton, silk, and wool. I am sure they will work equally well on all natural fabrics including bamboo, linen, and rayon. When working on wool i presoak the fabric and work the wet fabric for the best results. All the of the fabrics can be worked dry or wet. While all directions say inktense watercolor pencils and blocks are permanent on fabrics I automatically heat set and find no color washout when rinsed. I like the way the colors overlap and blend when moistened. I teach classes using inktense blocks and pencils . Students are fiber artists, quilters and surface designers. They love the vibrant colors and the way the come to life when working wet or when sprayed on dry artwork. Every color artist will be delighted with inktense watercolors.
