Arches® has been produced by Canson paper mills in France since 1492. These artist papers are 100% cotton, providing strength and resistance to scraping and repeated erasing, yet with the sensual touch that is familiar to cotton.  Unlike wood-based papers, 100% cotton papers do not deteriorate with age and will endure for generations.

Arches Printmaking Paper and Watercolor Papers are cylinder mould-made, a traditional technique that produces beautiful, high quality paper with 4 deckled edges.  The distinctive Arches watermark ensures its authenticity.

Unlike other papers Arches Watercolor Papers are 100% cotton and have the unique feature of being both internally and externally sized using natural gelatin.  Sizing limits the absorption of pigments and keeps colors bright; it also protects against repeated washing, scraping, and erasing. 

Arches watercolor papers are available in cold press, hot press, and rough; in sheets, blocks, pads, artist books, and postcards; and in various weights.  Arches printmaking paper is available in Rolls and Sheets.
